A word from volunteers

Martine

Martine Courbet is a volunteer mother in the Adapei association which offers work to her disabled daughter. She explains that to be a volunteer, you don’t need any particular qualities but you have to be available. She mentions that the association organizes the brioche operation and formerly the greeting card operation, but these activities have disappeared with the Covid crisis and the lack of young volunteers.

Enes

Enes Tavukcu has been a volunteer for many years. He started volunteering to help children with difficulties in sports. He volunteers at the club of Exincourt – Taillecourt two to three times a week to help during trainings, matches and teams in difficulty. According to him, the qualities necessary to be a volunteer are desire and passion. He thinks that there are enough young people in volunteering and encourages young people to volunteer in structures where they already know people.

Youssef

Youssef Wali, 18 years old and a student in his first year of BUT MMI in MontbĂ©liard, started volunteering because he likes helping people. He did volunteer work at the MJC in his neighborhood in Audincourt, Champs-Montants. According to him, there are no specific qualities to have to be a volunteer, but you have to be kind, supportive and like to work in a group. He thinks that there are more and more young people in volunteering, but that it is still necessary to act to promote it. His message to young people who are hesitant to volunteer is that it doesn’t cost anything and it can only make them better.

Fabienne

Fabienne is a volunteer who invests herself for the Adapei association by selling buns to finance events for young people. She is a friend of young people, families and parents with disabilities. For her, the essential qualities to be a volunteer are patience, time, team spirit and the ability to help each other. She attends meetings throughout the year and organizes events such as family picnics, bus trips and recreational walks.

Sofiane

Sofiane has been a volunteer for several years. He explains that he started volunteering by chance by coaching a soccer club. He volunteers a few times a week and believes that to be a volunteer, you have to be smiling and able to express yourself. Sofiane thinks that young people are getting more and more involved in volunteering but that there is still a lack of it. His message to hesitant youth is to try and continue if they enjoy helping people and making others happy.
